The golden snub-nosed monkey, a species under top-class state protection in China, is equally as famous as the giant panda.

As a sub-species of Sichuan snub-nosed monkey, the golden snub-nosed monkey of Shennongjia plays an important role in the evolution history of species.

Currently the abundant vegetation in Shennongjia makes it the perfect sanctuary for this monkey species.
